The artefact was meant to explain our target audience to people who are new to the project.
I was planning to make a monopoly-esque game but focused on plants to showcase the "commodification" portion of the concept. But I got quickly turned down as Yasser was not a fan at all.
Yasser's comments
DRR > The e-sport and gardening combo theme is a clash both in concept and aesthetic appeal of the research. The visual and textual tonality of the project will be compromised. Do avoid this possibly jarring approach. Go back to the more the earlier homely direction that you proposed. The catalogue of plants and botanical rarities can still be applied.
Artifact > Games usually don't do well as you will need to make sure it plays well while having unique game mechanics, else it is just a redesign of something that already exist.
Tips from Joselyn
What are the current issues/concerns that came from this 'greenwashing?" because of these concerns/issues, what are the consequences the Visser's method that might help with the above
The comment from Joselyn has honestly given me a better and clearer direction with her more direct approach.
I then proposed a different idea, using paper plants to showcase
Yasser much prefers the paper plants to the monopoly board. the "homely" vibes are better shown here
He even allowed me to drill the plants to the wall, information on the plant has to be discreet and not obvious.
Publication: give a narrative, use data visualisation and research on existing solutions (Facebook groups communities), gaps and problems, stuff to refine
For the first plant, I wanted to showcase the Plantfluencers and their statistics of how old they are, how many plants they have and how much they have spent on them.
Using photos that I have taken at a nursery, printed them out and use the white circles on the leave and I thought I can put the faces of the Plantfluencers into them.
Here is me testing it out.
As for the data, I can combine an exhibition legend with a Soil Quality Guide to let the user feel like he/she is inspecting the plant or soil.
Instead, they are finding out the data of each plant influencer.
Class Critique:
Yasser wants me to try more plants and Josylne told me the data can be just on the plants to simplify.
