3.2 Finalising on the Focus





After gathering survey results, I also realised that many of the respondents are not aware of the Green Plan and how that can help with them to restore their Biophilia


This can be further supported by the CNA Green Plan Challenge, where an example of a Millennial, Jill-Marie (https://www.instagram.com/jillmariethomas/) said “That’s the irony of the situation. Even though, I live right next to a park, I don’t really go out much and go for walks and stuff so I didn’t know much about biodiversity and all this stuff”


“Singapore is a city built in nature

This is one example of how many Singaporeans, even tech-savvy millennials who are not in the know of nature parks and how they can fulfil our craving for Biophilia. There is a need to fill this void and many the millennials


The plan is to create a fake plant shop and make it certified by my project. So when a customer is a first timer/ new to the hobby, they will be prompted by the shopkeeper or the online website to prevent or to make them think twice before buying the plant.


The CNA Green Plan Challenge aims to give the participants newfound knowledge and a deeper connection with the nature that surrounds them. Much like the green plan challenge, Rethinking Biophilia aims to do the same in the context of the working local millennial who are stuck in this pandemic and who are experiencing the houseplant craze.

On another episode, they featured a workshop that teaches the basics of plant care, and they said some very useful tips for the Singapore environment.




As expected, many have underestimated the time, effort and love required to care for a plant which resulted in many of the contestants having problems.

Rethinking Biophilia aims to slow down the purchase of plants by creating barriers al



I suggest making a grow kit that will teach the user (target audience -> local working millennials) how to care for and grow a plant properly with the intentions of fostering a relationship between the two while applying slow design (to fight against overconsumption from stress) and regenerative design (materials used that is sustainable for the environment).
