After a few months of break, I had to make a presentation slide deck as a form of recap for what I have crafted and compiled for my Research Compendium.
Last year, my initial inquiry about the study of Biophilia was that there was a sudden trend of people collecting plants, especially during the pandemic. My neighbour's balconies are becoming greener and greener, friends are talking about different plant species as if they are biologists?
Then, nurseries are gaining a big following and many of them are starting their e-commerce site to fit the increasing demand. That is when I realised that these nurseries are profiting from people’s love of nature. Isn't that a form of greenwashing? Is that the same or is it worse than fast fashion greenwashing?
Hence, I made the Research Compendium about different industries and how much they greenwashed their products and judge them by how big or twisted their lies are to their customers.
I also elaborated on the term Biophilia and how companies have used different pillars to deceive their customers. I have listed the current houseplant industry, fast fashion brands, supermarket labels and oil brands.
As I transition into Semester 2, I made wanted to dive deeper into the concept of Biophilia and how its pillar can help with the different aspect of society. I drew a mind map to seek which option I can consider.
With the help of different readings I had found for the theories to back up my
Research Compendium, I have found two places where Biophilia can impact the most: the healthcare industry and the workplace.
I would assume that healthcare can have more of direct impact to the lives as the patients do get healed faster with Biophilic elements around.
